In 2002 the 2008 PGA Championship player was rewarded for his determination and persistence in the face of a debilitating illness with the Ben Hogan award, presented by the Golf Writer’s Association of America. Scott Verplank’s most recent win came at the 2007 Eds Byron Championship where he defeated 2008 PGA Championship player Luke Donald by 3 strokes.
