Adam Scott - 2008 PGA Championship Player Profile

Since turning professional in 2000, Adam Scott has played the on the  PGA tour, the European Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia. He has won 13 titles, including 6 wins on the PGA Tour.

Adam Scott’s playing career began in earnest only one year after he turned professional, when he won the 2001 Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa. It was a significant success as it was his first European Tour victory and his first professional win.

Scott launched himself into the Order of Merit next, where he scored four top five finishes. 

In 2002, the 2008 PGA Championship player finished seventh on the European Tour Order of Merit, represented Australia in the WGC World Cup, and notched up two more European Tour victories, at the Qatar Masters and the Scottish PGA Championship

In 2003 Adam Scott won the Scandinavian Masters and scooped his first victory on the PGA Tour by winning the Deutsche Bank Championship. He was awarded the Johnnie Walker and Australian Golf Digest player of the year awards in recognition of his achievements.

The following year Adam Scott went on to win the Players’ Championship and the Booz Allen Classic, and was once more awarded the Australian Golf Digest Player of the Year award. In 2005 Adam Scott decided to leave the European Tour and concentrate on the PGA Tour.

The move was successful as he was included as a member of the international Team at the President’s Cup for the second time, before going on to win the Nissan Open and the Australasian Order of Merit.

These achievements scooped Adam Scott the Australian golf Digest player of the year award for the third consecutive year.

In 2006, Scott did exceedingly well in the British Open and PGA Championship, with two top-10 finishes. He finished his best professional year yet with a victory at the season-ending Tour Championship, earning 4th place in the world rankings.

2007 was an interesting year for Adam Scott. The 2008 PGA Championship player recorded a come-from-behind win in Houston, a week before the Masters. His form dipped following this win and he missed consecutive cuts at the US Open and AT&T National before finishing off the year with a string of solid performances.
