2008 US PGA Championship Players

The PGA Championship is a high profile tournament for professional golfers – the very best at their game. It was first established at a time when professional golfers weren't held in high esteem and the sport was largely run by wealthy amateurs.

This origin is still reflected in the entry system for the championship. It is the only major that reserves a number of places for club professionals and does not lead inviting amateurs to compete. Although it does not explicitly grant entry to the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings, it does invariably invite all top 50 players who are not already qualified. Read more about the specific eligibility criteria.

We focus on the top 20 in the Official World Golf Rankings. As such, these elite golfers collectively hold an impressive list of wins and most notably a huge number of major victories between them.
