Cink bullish ahead of PGA Championship
British Open winner, Stewart Cink, is bullish about his prospects of following in the trail of Padraig Harrington and claiming consecutive titles at the British Open and US PGA Championship.
The American defeated Tom Watson in a playoff at Turnberry in July, and is now amongst the favourites to hoist the Wannamaker Trophy at the conclusion of the year’s final major championship.
"I didn't win any majors for about 50 starts," Cink told reporters on Tuesday. "Then I won one and now all of a sudden I feel like I can do it every time. It's a huge confidence builder."
Cink has carried the underdog tag into so many 3-balls that he’s enjoying finding strong support in the galleries for the first time in his career.
“A lot of people have asked me now that the monkey's off your back how does it feel? I never thought there was a monkey. I'm usually the under-the-radar guy in the group. I hear the 'Go Phil,' 'Go Anthony,' 'Go Camilo' but never hear 'Go Stewart' unless someone chuckles after it. Now it's a different story. And that really feels good."
