2009 US PGA Championship Golf Course - The last 9 Holes

Hole 10 - Par 4, 452 yards

The opener of the back 9 is all about precision and the perfect drive is to the corner of the dogleg. From there it's all downhill to the lake which comes into play if the hole is located back left.

Hole 11 - Par 5, 606 yards

A long drive to the middle of the fairway, followed by a second shot close to the hole won't leave you with too much to do but if you come up short trying to reach the green in two, beware of the new bunker introduced for the Championship.

Hole 12 - Par 4, 518 yards

A brand new tee has arguably turned the most difficult hole of the course into a veritable nightmare, having added an additional 50 yards to the challenge. A shallow, firm green makes approach shots really tricky and subtle breaks, added to the length of the hole, will make birdies a rarity indeed.

Hole 13 - Par3, 248 yards

Another cracker of a hole is the most difficult par 3 of the course. Difficult hole locations in conjunction with hazards literally everywhere make it a formidable challenge for even the best of the best. Over the years, number 13, unlucky for some, has played a significant role in the outcome of championships.

Hole 14 - Par 4, 352 yards

Dubbed as one of the greatest short par fours in golf, the 14th has a new addition, a cross bunker short of the green. Pin-point precision is essential but even then, the small green with interesting hole locations equates to a dearth in birdies

Hole 15 - Par 5, 642 yards

Additional length has been added to the hole allowing bunkers back into play on both the drive and second shot. The wind, coupled with the ravenous hazards, often leads to rather high scores

Hole 16 - Par 4, 402 yards

The signature hole of the course is a real monster, demanding a drive right over Hazeltine Lake that must also avoid a stream on the left side of the fairway. The narrow green perched precariously on high, slides away and is quite difficult to hold. The lake is brought back into play by hole locations on the right and quite frankly, anything is possible on the notorious 16th!

Hole 17 - Par 3, 182 yards

The attractive hole is surrounded by sand traps and water hazards, making it a tricky option for the uninitiated. A big dip, front left of the green, will snaffle up any shots off the mark and from there it will take at least three putts to reach the green.

Hole 18 - Par 4, 475 yards

A new tee has added length to the closing hole, demanding accuracy from players who need to fit their drive in-between sand traps right and left. The green has 3 obvious tiers, so precision is paramount when making an approach shot.
