Aaron Baddeley - 2008 PGA Championship Player Profile
Aaron
Baddeley is a professional golfer worth watching in 2008. Although he only
turned professional in 2000, he has already had six professional wins to his
name, making him a sure fire bet to do well in the forthcoming majors. His PGA
Tour wins are very recent, and include the 2006 Verizon Heritage and
the 2007 FBR Open. Both victories were nail biting in the extreme, as he
won them both by a single stroke.
In 2007 alone, Aaron Baddeley played in 23 events, scoring seven top ten finishes. He not only tied for 13th place in June’s US Open, but also won his second PGA Tour tournament, the Mastercard Masters, and reached the top 50 of the official world golf rankings. By September he had entered the top 20, and is currently placed 18. He also placed 52 in the Masters and 13th in the US Open. Other achievements for the year include finishing second in the prestigious BMW Championship.
Aaron Baddeley currently ranks 103 on the money list, which is a an impressive achievement given that he only joined the PGA Tour in 2003. The man who is known for his precision putting may well just make golfing history next year.
The 2008 PGA Championship player’s PGA Tour of Australasia wins give an idea of just how consistent he is when in form. In 1999, Aaron Baddeley won the Holden Australian Open as an 18 year old amateur, defeating Greg Norman and Colin Montgomery before returning for a second win as a 19 year old pro, and winning the money title of the Australian tour.
In 2002, aged 21, Aaron Baddeley played on the second tier Nationwide Tour, earning his PGA Tour card. His career took an upward swing with his second place finish at the Sony Open and the Chrysler Classic (2003), but the PGA Championship player slipped down the money list rankings the following year, before making a comeback with victory in Verizon Heritage.
Given his fighting spirit and successful 2007 golfing year, it’s going to be interesting watching Aaron Baddeley’s performances in 2008, particularly at the majors, where he’ll be up against some stiff competition. Gamblers and fans the world over will be watching him, particularly at ‘glory’s last chance’, the 2008 PGA Championship.
